Karachi: (Aftab Channa) Chairman Enquiries & Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) Alamuddin Bullo while expressing his displeasure over poor performance of prosecutors and Investigation officers of ACE has said that inadequate case preparation will not be tolerated.
This he said while presiding over an important meeting to review prosecution of the cases pending in Anti-Corruption courts across the province.
The meeting was briefed about the trap cases conducted during last three years, conviction/Acquittals granted during last year. The meeting was informed by the Director Anti Corruption Establishment Sindh Usman Ghani Siddique that 1458 cases are in pending at Anti Corruption courts across the province. In 2017 so far 13 corrupt officers/officials were convicted while 111 were released by the anti corruption courts.
The Chairman Anti Corruption expressed his displeasure over huge number of cases in which IOs failed to investigate properly and stated that a strict action will be taken against the officer who spoils the case with poor investigation.
The Chairman further stated that there is a dire need of close coordination between the prosecutors and the investigation officers. “The conviction rate in the cases of Anti-Corruption is dismal, therefore investigation and prosecution needs complete overhauling” added the Chairman Anti Corruption Establishment. The meeting also decided to establish an anti-corruption court at Mirpurkhas. The meeting also decided to take action against the applicant (under the section 182 & 193 of PPC) who misguides the Anti Corruption or provides fake evidences/application.
The Chairman ACE Alamuddin Bullo directed the Investigation officers to use modern devices/technology and forensic tools to collect the evidences for investigating financial crimes. The Chairman ACE further added that and internal committee of ACE will review all cases in which prosecution side has failed and if found any flaws in investigation or prosecution a strict action will be taken against the concerned officer.
The meeting was attended by the Special Secretary ACE Khalid Chachar, Director Establishment Usman Ghani Siddique, Director, Deputy Secretary, Dr. Mansoor Ali Wassan, Director Enquiries Zubair Pervez, Director Legal Abdul Hannan Shaikh, Deputy District Public Prosecutor Karachi Riyasat Ali, Assistant District Public Prosecutor Hyderabad Nadeem Ahmed Thaheem and Prosecuting Inspector/Investing Officers of Enquiries & Anti Corruption Establishment Sindh.
