Lahore: At least 13 people including Traffic Police chief Capt (R) Ahmed Mubeen and acting Deputy Inspector General Zahid Gondal  killed while 63 got injured in a deadly Bomb blast during a protest by drug association near Punjab Assembly on Monday.

The suspected suicide bomber blasted himself when hundreds of demonstrators were on a protest regarding amendments in Punjab drug act.

Media Covering the protest has also been affected by the blast. Aaj TV’s DSNG Van was badly affected but no media causality is reported yet.  The scene is cordoned off by the paramilitary forces and evidence is being collected by the officials.

The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a statement has called the attack “an act of cowardliness”. The statement reads as, ” These attack is act of cowardliness can not lay us down, we will continue to fight against these terrorists”.

Meanwhile The Chief of Pakistan Army General Qamar Jawed Bajwa has also strongly condemned the attack and has directed intelligence agencies and other military officials for full co-operation with civil authorities, Said ISPR.

The Threat alert for any possible blast was already communicated by the federal government via letter NO. 3/36/2017(Ops)-8141(1) on February 7.
