KARACHI: (By Aftab channa) Managing Director of the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Stevta) has lost his job after developing difference with Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Stevta Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem, it has emerged.
“The CM’s special assistant, who has been allotted the portfolio of Stevta, Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem, has been trying to influence the working of authority’s by pressurizing the officials, which was continuously resisted by authority’s MD S M Kaleem Maki”, sources told SindPost.
According to sources, the special assistant forcibly took over the vehicle of MD Stevta White Toyota Parado, while several other vehicles are still in use of special assistant replacing government number plates with the private ones.
“The special assistant directly interferes into the matters of the Stevta, taking monthly expenditures of his two offices i.e. Rs 45,000 for each one”, sources added.
The situation got worsened when the special assistant, Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem forwarded a summary to MD regarding appointment of a retired officer in the Stevta on Honorary Basis.
“The retired officer, S Nazar Ali, himself prepared a summary and took it to MD Stevta for his comments however the MD put his comments on the summary and forwarded the same to administrative secretary Stevta Navid Ahmed Shaikh following rules and procedures. This act of sending summary directly to Secretary instead of returning the same back to Special Assistant has further deepened the differences.”
As per the summary, the Stevta will not pay any salary if he is inducted, however he will get official vehicle, fuel and TA/DA for his official trips.
“The administrative secretary rejected the summary by raising a number of queries. The Stevta is not a welfare foundation and how come a retired officer wants to work on honorary basis. If he (Nazar Ali) wants to work to please Allah, the Almighty, he should join some welfare organization working in the city”, sources quoted Secretary Navid Ahmed Shaikh as saying.
Moreover, sources said that Stevta vice-chairman has once again forwarded the summary directly to Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah bypassing the administrative secretary of the authority.
According to sources, Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem personally met with the chief minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah and got the MD removed from his post. An officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) Rafiq Ahmed Buriro has been posted as the new MD of Stevta.
When contacted, CM’s Special Assistant Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem, told SindPost that the chief minister was not happy with performance of MD. “I complained to CM as S M Kaleem Maki failed to run the authority in proper way including issuance of salaries to staff, budget issues etc”, he added.
