The two journalists work for a local news paper and were continuously raising voice against land mafia through their newpaper.

The land grabber and influential man of Halani town lodged a complaint of defamation and blamed journalists for seeking extortion money to stop the media reports against him.

Sindh police which is known for political obedience became active and falsely presented the charge sheet alongwith agreeing to complainants allegations.

The district anti terrorism court sentenced journalists for seven years in prision and 100,000 pak rupees fine.

The journalists are well known in the areas for raising voice against odds. They were reporting about an illegal construction by Mr Shahid Malik on a 100 years old graveyard.

Mr. Malik is known as the close aide of Member of the provincial assembly from PPP Mr. Ibrar Shah.

The local leaders have demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice against the verdict and ask authorities to take action against the land grabbers mafia.

Senior Journalist and The CEO Sindh Post Shoukat Zardari has shown concerns over the biased justice by the ATC. “I have contacted the committee to protect journalists about the matter and hopefully we will launch protests on all forums for the release of honest Journalists”, Said Mr. Zardari.

Shoukat Zardari further said that he also raised the issue of the same graveyard in 2013 through his AWAZ Tv Programs but unfortunately government of Sindh did not pay any attention to the matter.
