Karachi: The appointment of the vice chancellor shaheed Benazir Bhutto university Benazirabad Mr Arshad Saleem Arain is against the set rules: Sindh post has learned.
The evidenve received by Sindh Post includes his educational qualification at the time of his appointment which clearly testifies the claim of being an illegal appointee.
Mr Arshad Saleem was first appointed as the controller of Examination in October 2011 and later on after the resignation of the then Vice Chancellor Mr Rasool Bux he was nominated as the vice chancellor and notification was issued in January 2012.
As per the recent advertisement by the Sindh government in June 2016 for the post of Vice chancellor Sindh university, the academic qualification fwas required to be a Phd with at least 25 years of post graduation experience but, Mr Arshad Salim only had a degree of Masters in Arts with 2nd Division. He passed his MA in 2001 as per the mark sheets evidence with the Sindh Post.
Mr Arshad Salim has recently completed his M Phil and his Phd thesis is yet to be approved.
The university’s Spokes person Mr Kashif Noorani was contacted to comment on the matter but he denied to make any official comments. He suggested to inquire from the Governor house.
Merit is a highly discussed issue in Sindh province of Pakistan and recently the supreme court of Pakistan took suo-moto notice against the illegal appointment of Sindh public service commission members.
Another case of same kind was also discussed in Lahore high court in which court ordered the sacking of eight illegally appointed vice chancellors of different universities.
